PROJECT DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Through an organized internal design system, Landmark is confident that we can meet your goals and expectations. The following outlines some key project philosophy issues that set Landmark apart from the competition.

General Design Approach

Landmark utilizes the Total Quality Project Management (TQPM) approach to problem solving. While there are many interpretations for quality in our industry, we have simplified it to mean, “conforming to requirements.” Loosely stated, requirements involve client expectations, budgets, applicable codes, and user efficiency.

The TQPM approach focuses on the principle that an error found in the early stages of a design can cost $1; if that error is found during the middle stages of a project it could cost $10; the same error could cost up to $100 if it is not identified until construction. Based on this logic, reasonable focus on assumptions and constraints during the conceptual phase can save considerable time and money.

Quality Control

Landmark has a different philosophy than most of its competitors when it comes to controlling the quality and consistency of our design services. Most of our design services and product generation are actually performed by registered professional engineers rather than a supervisor/support personnel relationship. This applies from one-line concepts to detailed final plans and specifications. Our standard design criteria are continually updated as the rules and regulations of the governing review agencies are statutorily changed.

In addition to the TQPM approach, we also actively implement the theory of Principle of Single Statement. This simply involves only showing a dimension, coordinate, elevation and descriptor ONCE in a set of drawings and specifications. This is very important, as conflicting information is one of the more costly errors in our industry.
