Bud Werner Memorial Library

Bud Werner Memorial Library

The original library was built in 1967 in memory of local Olympic skier, Wallace “Buddy” Werner after he was killed in an avalanche at the age of 29.

The expansion and remodel of the Bud Werner Memorial Library was funded by an $11.4 million General Obligation Bond Issue approved by the voters of the East Routt Library District in 2005.

The project consisted of remodeling and renovating the 9,344-sf library to improve office space and develop a community room, plus an addition of approximately 26,395-sf for other departments.

Landmark Consultants, Inc. performed a detailed site grading and drainage review and design for the proposed Bud Werner Memorial Library Expansion. Landmark’s analysis included a review of the Yampa River floodplain and flood elevations, design of a 270-ft storm sewer to serve the site and surrounding right-of-way, and the specification of a Stormceptor mechanical treatment device to improve water quality.
