The Wild Blue Gondola is the longest, fastest 10-person gondola in North America. What once took multiple lift rides to work your way from the base of the ski area to the top of Sunshine Peak can now be accomplished in a single, 13-minute ride in a plush gondola cabin. Landmark provided supporting surveying and civil engineering design services to help position this game changing amenity for the Steamboat Ski Area as part of their Full Steam Ahead campaign.

Landmark assisted with the site design of the bottom, mid-station and top terminals including grading, drainage, and utilities – for both winter and summer conditions. The multi-season conditions introduce an unusual challenge for access in that there can be several feet of snow to step off onto, or dry ground below.

The incredible tight tolerances necessary for aligning the lift towers with the terminals was handled smoothly by our surveyors. Dopplmayr typically provides their own construction layout for these reasons, yet they turned over this responsibility quickly when they realized that they were in good hands with our crews.
